Annie Farrell, Expert on Sustainable Garden and Farming Practices, Joins Teich Garden Systems
Online, June 9, 2010 (Newswire.com) - South Salem, NY - Teich Garden Systems announced today that Annie Farrell has joined the company as its Garden Master.
Mark Teich, founder of Teich Garden Systems stated, "We are thrilled to have Annie joining our team. Her wealth of knowledge about sustainable practices in farming and gardening are a perfect fit with our garden systems. We look forward to working together to develop signature Annie Farrell garden systems. We will also make her consulting services available to our customers. Her guidance can help them get the most out their gardens as well as learning how to develop a broader environmentally sensitive lifestyle. She is also a wonderful teacher who schools may want to bring into their classrooms as a special event or as part of a planting day. "
Annie Farrell noted "I first learned about Teich Gardens in connection with one of their first school gardens and have been following their progress ever since. I love what TGS does. Teich Garden Systems provide the perfect foundation to develop and teach the fundamentals of a sustainable lifestyle. Fresh vegetables to feed a family can be grown easily in the healthy soil they use and there is now a productive use for a home composting program. Teich gardens are also very flexible - TGS has even built a garden with an attached chicken coop so fresh eggs can be gathered every morning. I am looking forward to working with Mark and the others at TGS as we build on each other's creativity and passion about gardening and the environment. "
Most recently, Teich Garden Systems collaborated with Annie as she made a video for Yahoo called "Tips to Create a Bountiful Vegetable Garden" (http://shine.yahoo.com/event/haven/tips-to-create-a-bountiful-vegetable-garden-1347254). In the video, Annie worked with a family to set up a backyard garden and used a Teich Garden System to illustrate various gardening pointers.
Annie Farrell was born, and raised in New York City and spent summers in Northern Westchester County, New York where she fell in love with the farms that still operated there at that time. She later returned to Westchester to create a model of sustainable agriculture on a 225-acre farm in Mt. Kisco, New York, Cabbage Hill Farm. She later worked with Rainbeau Ridge Farm in Bedford, New York to build a small example of an efficient, productive farm that now produces goat cheese, vegetables, maple syrup, honey, eggs, wool, and many educational opportunities for children and adults alike. Currently, she spends most of her time at Millstone Farm in Wilton, Connecticut building another model of a small, diverse family owned farm, using techniques that preserve and build community and the environment and offers frequent workshops on sustainable farming practices and even how to raise chickens in your backyard. A more complete biography for Annie can be found on the Teich Garden Systems website.
