Announcing the 2018 Media for Social Impact Leadership Council Award Recipients

On Thursday, Sept. 6 at the United Nations, the Leadership Council Award recipients will be celebrated during the 5th annual Media for Social Impact Summit. Organized by the United Nations Office for Partnerships and PVBLIC Foundation, the Summit showcases innovative social campaigns and movements through keynotes, interviews, case studies and round tables and provides a unique opportunity for delegates to network and learn from the brightest minds in media and build lasting partnerships that further social progress.

The Media for Social Impact Leadership Council is comprised of thought-leaders from their respective industries, and are nominated for this honor by their peers. The final group of honorees received the top votes from a steering committee comprised of executives from around the media and technology industries. It is one of the highest honors awarded by the social sector for the media and technology industries. This distinction is reserved for true media and technology leaders who have impacted their communities and have mobilized change in their industries. These leaders exemplify a strong drive to make a positive impact and have dedicated their work to help advance and create awareness around social impact initiatives.

“Our Foundation is honored to recognize this year’s leaders in Media for Social Impact,” said Sergio Fernandez de Cordova, Chairman of the PVBLIC Foundation. “The 2018 Media for Social Impact Leadership Council Award recipients are pioneers in driving impact through media in their areas of work, using public relations tools to communicate the SDGs, uniting women worldwide to speed up change, ensuring women's land rights and gender justice, empowering journalist in Africa, uniting people by using innovative technology, encouraging environmental protection to driving local, national and global advocacy. Their passion and vision are helping build awareness and creating communications for a better world.”

The 2018 Media for Social Impact Summit provides a platform for leaders from the media and technology industries to join forces with United Nation agencies to help support the Sustainable Development Goals on a global level.

“We are proud to recognize this year’s award recipients who, as acknowledged by their peers, are at the forefront of using the power of media to support the sustainable development goals agenda,” said William Kennedy, United Nations Office for Partnerships. “The honorees are paving the way for future generations of media leaders to make impactful contributions to the marketplace and the global communities they serve.”
