APM Registered Project Professional Standard Recognises Project Management Excellence

Parallel Project Training launches workshops aimed at professional project managers achieving international recognition with RPP.

The Association for Project Management (APM) recently launched a new standard in professional project management aimed at recognising competent leadership, the ability to manage complex projects and a commitment to continuous professional development (CPD). As all industries strive to improve complex project delivery RPP is likely to become a requirement for organisations which expect the highest level of professionalism.

Experienced project managers wishing to gain APM Registered Project Professional (RPP) must submit a written portfolio of evidence detailing their on-the-job experience on complex projects and undergo an assessment interview by RPP peer assessors, called a professional review.

In response to demand for coaching in how to best present evidence of experience and how to most effectively articulate relevant skills and experience during the professional review, innovative training company Parallel Project Training has recently launched a series of workshops to complement their comprehensive range of project management training courses.

Parallel Project Training Associate Lara Taylorson, who will deliver the workshops, has already been conducting one-to-one coaching since the standard launched in March. As an APM assessor, who was involved in the pilot scheme, she is well-qualified to guide aspiring project professionals through the detailed and complex process of attaining registered status. With 15 years of practical project management experience and having completed RPP herself she understands how to maximise candidates' chances of gaining this prestigious designation.

As Lara commented, "Chartered status is the norm in most professions and the APM Registered Project Professional standard is part of the process for the APM to eventually become a chartered body. I envisage organisations in the future expecting project managers to have this level of designation and project managers themselves wanting to be recognised with chartered status."

The status gained through the APM RPP and qualifications from other APM project management courses is a valuable asset for a project manager's personal development. It also enhances the professional standing of organisations whose project managers achieve this status and, because a requirement of the APM RPP standard is continuous professional development, it ensures registered project managers are not only well-qualified but also up-to-date with their skills.
