Appalachian Dharma and Meditation Center Hosts Book Release Event
Online, December 19, 2011 (Newswire.com) - Appalachian Dharma & Meditation Center will host a book release event on Saturday, January 14, 2012, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. to celebrate the release of Dr. Douglas Duckworth's latest book, Jamgon Mipam: His Life and Teachings, published by Shambhala Publications. The book release event will feature readings by Dr. Duckworth from his book, to be followed by a question-and-answer period. Tea and cookies will be provided.
Jamgon Mipam was one of the most pivotal figures in the history of Tibetan Buddhism and profoundly influenced the development of the Nyingma school. The first part of Dr. Duckworth's book explores the life of this monk and mystic. The second part of the book examines Jamgon Mipam's teachings and his contributions to the body of Buddhist thought. The third part of the book is comprised of a collection of Jamgon Mipam's writings.
The book release event at ADMC promises to be a fun and educational opportunity to learn more about Tibetan Buddhism and about this remarkable philosopher. Though Jamgon Mipam: His Life and Teachings is a scholarly work, it will also be of great interest to a broader audience who is interested in Tibetan religious thought and culture. The book's release date is December 20, and it will be available for sale through Shambhala Publications and Amazon.
