When 7 World Trade Center collapsed after the attacks on 9/11 a decade ago, the Borough of Manhattan Community College's Fiterman Hall, which was directly across the street, sustained damage to the building's eastern and southern facades. To both pay homage to those who lost their lives and to those whose lives were forever changed a decade ago by 9/11, and to show a commitment to renewal, BMCC contracted Apple Visual Graphics to create a 40'x76' American Flag. This flag was draped over Fiterman Hall, which is currently under reconstruction, at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 8, 2011.

Apple Visual Graphics used eco friendly, solvent inks to print this 40'x76' American Flag on recyclable 10oz lightweight mesh vinyl. The Panels of the flag were then taped and sewn, with the flag hemmed around the approximately 3,400 square foot flag. Pole pockets were also added to the top and bottom by a finishing team. A project of this scope required around the clock work by a team of no less than 10 people to help maneuver the flag around the manufacturing plant.

Using the industry's top tools, including a Mimaki JV3250, Apple Visual Graphics has the equipment, know how and attention to detail needed to print the wide format pieces of this scope and larger. The Borough of Manhattan Community College flag stands out amongst the high-profile campaigns Apple Visual Graphics has worked on previously for clients such as Brooklyn Academy of Music, Downtown Brooklyn Partnership, City Parks Foundation and Bronx Community College.

More than fifteen years of experience in the commercial printing world has given Apple Visual Graphics the ability to create custom fabric banners, vinyl window displays and installation, building wraps and business collateral such as letterhead and business cards for some of the New York City's largest public entities.
