Application Security, Inc. Announces Fourth Annual Database Security Video SMACKDOWN

Video Contest Submission Process Now Open - Win up to $2,000!

Application Security, Inc. (AppSecInc), the leading provider of database security, risk and compliance solutions (SRC) for the enterprise, today announced that it is accepting submissions for the Fourth Annual Database Security Video Smackdown. The first place winner will be awarded a prize of $2,000. Finalists will receive prizes of $500 and all videos will be featured on the Application Security, Inc. Website, Facebook page and YouTube Channel.

Now in its fourth year, the Database Security Video Smackdown continues to thrive. In 2010, nearly forty teams submitted high quality videos. The winning video, "Audit This!," as well as finalists from the first three years of the contest can be viewed on the 2011 Video SMACKDOWN Web site.

Teams or individuals are encouraged to create a unique, short video of two minutes or less that mentions the importance of database security. The film does not have to be specifically about database security, but it must incorporate the line "Database Security is Important" at some point in the film. The target audience for the videos is the general public and the primary goal is to entertain.

All contest entries must complete a two part process; first entrants must submit their videos via the free YouSendIt® Video Smackdown drop box at https://www.yousendit.com/dropbox?dropbox=VideoSmackdown. In addition, all entrants must complete the entry form on the registration page. The deadline for submissions is December 6, 2011

The entries will be judged by a team of security experts and Application Security, Inc. employees who love movies, database security and all things creative. Finalists will be selected based on overall creative vision and entertainment quality. The champion will be announced on December 13, 2011 on www.appsecinc.com.

"For the past three years we have been amazed by the creativity of our entries and I am sure that the filmmakers participating in the 4th annual SMACKDOWN will continue to impress," said Thom VanHorn, vice president, global marketing, AppSecInc. "2011 has seen an unprecedented rise in the number of database breaches and now, more than ever, it is important to raise awareness of this critical enterprise security risk. I can't wait to see how this year's entrants deliver this important message"
