Apposite Releases New 10 Gbps WAN Emulator -- Netropy 10G1 Raises the Bar on Performance and Affordability
Online, July 31, 2013 (Newswire.com) - Apposite® Technologies, the leader in enterprise-class network simulation products, today announced the release of the Netropy® 10G1 WAN emulator, adding a new, lower cost 10 Gbps model to its award-winning line of WAN emulation appliances.
Netropy WAN emulators simulate bandwidth, latency, packet loss, and other critical network impairments to test the performance of applications in the lab. By combining unparalleled ease-of-use with unmatched pricing, Apposite makes it possible for network managers, IT administrators, and application developers to learn within minutes how applications will perform over a variety of real-world networks.
The new Netropy 10G1 model simulates WAN links up to 10 Gbps, ideal for testing cloud computing infrastructure, storage replication and synchronization, media asset distribution, telepresence, and other applications that depend on high-speed networks.
In addition, the Netropy 10G1 can simulate up to fifteen separate WAN links, with packets assigned to the various links by IP address range, VLAN, or any other packet identifier, making it possible to simulate ten 1 Gbps links or fifteen lower speed links all within a single device.
The compact, 1U-sized 10G1 comes with one pair of 10 GbE ports for emulation, either SFP+ for fiber connectivity or RJ45 for use with standard copper cabling. The device can forward an aggregate of 20 Gbps of traffic at a rate of more than 29 million packets per second, making it suitable for testing any type of data, voice, or video application.
The new 10G1 model joins the existing 10G2, which has two pairs of 10 GbE ports in a 2U-sized device to simulate two separate 10 Gbps links or up to 30 lower speed links. Apposite also offers the popular Netropy N60 and N90 models for links up to 1 Gbps and the Linktropy® line of WAN emulators to simulate a single link at a time.
For users without an immediate need for the full 10 Gbps capability, a lower cost version of the 10G1 is available with a 1 Gbps license. This lower speed version offers the same 10 GbE ports for easy connectivity to a local 10 Gbps network while simulating multiple links up to 1 Gbps each, and can be upgraded to the 10 Gbps version at any time, offering a future-proof investment as WAN bandwidths continue to expand.
