Are the Mountains Really a Metaphor for Life?
One Woman's Journey of Trailing through the Mountains Leads to a Celebration of Reaching the Summit.
Online, May 9, 2011 (Newswire.com) - The mountains have always been a part of Deb Roffe's life. You could say she was born into them. Her family took her camping when she was just an infant. Together they made the annual trek from Ohio to Colorado to hike and enjoy the outdoors. The mountains were a natural part of life. When Deb had her own family, she kept those traditions, teaching those same lessons on the mountainside.
While hiking with her daughter-in-law, Stefanie Rittner, they dreamt of teaching other people the same life lessons the mountains had taught them. That's when they began forming the ideas into a book with the mountains as the metaphor for life.
"At first, it seemed that the pieces came together slowly. Then we picked up the pace, and everything started coming together," says Deb Roffe, author of Reach Your Summit and Beyond: A Step-by-Step Guide to Achieving Your Personal Peak. "And just like the mountains, we reached false peaks, hit boulder fields, and had our own setbacks on this journey. The teachings from the mountains can be applied to all areas of our life - whether writing a book, or aiming to complete a new goal or life adventure. The similarities are absolutely astounding."
Roffe is excited to host an official book launch and signing event to celebrate reaching her own personal peak with the completion of Reach Your Summit and Beyond. Her event will be held on Thursday, May 19th at the Solid Grounds Coffee House, 6504 S Broadway in Centennial from 6-9pm. All are welcome to attend, and the event is free.
"Celebration is pivotal. Like when you reach the top of a fourteener and you get to sign your name in the directory. This event is about signing my name in the directory, and honoring the journey," says Roffe.
Reach Your Summit and Beyond is a book that includes family stories and teachings, including Roffe's personal journey through an eating disorder, divorce, and career changes. She guides the reader to identify what it is they desire, and then leads them step-by-step in achieving it. As a life coach, Roffe has been working with clients one-on-one for over five years. She's now sharing those teachings in her book, and hoping to inspire more people to reach for their goals.
