Are You Ready to Get De-Hypnotized?

Achieving peak performance by deprogramming automated reactions and responses through self-hypnosis.

Have you ever acted in a certain way or said something, only to realize that your actions or words are in conflict with what you really think or feel? A good example that most will relate to is when we chastise our children or partner, using words that sound eerily like something our parents might have said to us. If we are really present at that moment, we might feel somewhat horrified as we ask ourselves, "Why did I just say that? Do I really feel that way?"

Such automated reactions are actually quite common according to boomer generation health experts Dian Griesel, Ph.D., and Tom Griesel, who are also authors of the new book The TurboCharged Mind (January 2012, BSH). According to the Griesels, "Unless we have spent a good amount of time 'de-hypnotizing' ourselves, most of us are pulling dialog from old scripts picked up from those that influenced us the most during our formative years."

Is this a bad thing? "Nobody gets away without having been influenced by parents, siblings, teachers, religious figures, friends and others on both conscious and unconscious levels," say the Griesels. "Everyone we have interacted with has had the potential to contribute to our thought processes on some level. This is only a problem if we find ourselves stuck in a script that is creating conflict and stifling our presence and expression in current relationships."

Even with a tremendous amount of personal self-improvement work, it is pretty hard to go back to the clean slate we entered this world. Beware of any promises to the contrary. However, this is not necessarily a bad thing. The Griesels conclude, "We have each learned an assortment of coping mechanisms that worked at for us at some point in our lives and served to make us feel safe and secure. The challenge of adulthood and growth begins when we decide to be brave enough to question our actions and ask if some new thinking or reassessment is necessary."

For those who would like to test out the self-hypnosis experience for enhancing personal growth, the Griesels offer a free TurboCharged Beginner Meditation in the store at their website turbocharged.us.com. This can be downloaded onto a computer desktop or any personal computing device.
