ARIN Announces Newly Elected Board of Trustees and Advisory Council Members

The American Registry for Internet Numbers (ARIN), a nonprofit association that manages the distribution of Internet number resources, is pleased to announce that Vinton Cerf and Paul Vixie have been elected to its seven-member Board of Trustees. ARIN also congratulates the five individuals elected to its 15-member Advisory Council: Cathy Aronson, Owen DeLong, Chris Grundemann, Martin Hannigan, and Scott Leibrand.

Each will serve a three-year term beginning 1 January 2011.

"We were quite pleased by the level of participation and the deep qualifications of each candidate this year for both the Board of Trustees and Advisory Council. We are eager to start working with the newly elected members, and to continue working with the re-elected members," said John Curran, president and CEO of ARIN. "These elected representatives will help ARIN in our efforts surrounding IPv6 education and adoption, as we near the full depletion of IPv4."

• Newly elected Board member Vinton Cerf is currently Vice President and Chief Internet Evangelist for Google, and previously served as the chairman of ICANN and is the founding president of the Internet Society (ISOC).

• Re-elected Board member Paul Vixie has served on the ARIN Board of Trustees since 2005 and is currently the president of the Internet Systems Consortium.

• Re-elected Advisory Council member Cathy Aronson has served ARIN since 1998 and is currently a network engineer at Cascadeo Corporation.

ARIN's Board of Trustees has ultimate responsibility for the business affairs and financial health of the organization, and manages ARIN's operations in a manner consistent with the guidance received from the Advisory Council and the goals set by the registry's members.
