Arizona Goat Yoga is the First Yoga Company to Become a Certified Autism Center™

Arizona Goat Yoga is now a Certified Autism CenterTM (CAC), designated by the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES). The designation requires staff to complete an autism sensitivity and awareness program and complete updated training to qualify for renewal every two years. Arizona Goat Yoga joins almost 60 organizations in and around Mesa, AZ, that have completed or committed to the CAC process, as part of a movement started by Visit Mesa. Mesa is now the first Autism Certified City.

“We’re so excited to be partners with IBCCES and look forward to exposing families in the autism community to the therapeutic benefits of spending time with animals. We know families will enjoy the time they have together while participating in goat yoga,” said owner Sarah Williams.

For almost 20 years, IBCCES has been the leader in cognitive disorder training and certification for healthcare, education and corporate professionals around the globe. IBCCES recognized that many families with children who have special needs have limited travel and recreation options. In response to this need, IBCCES created training and certification programs specifically for the hospitality and travel industry. More families and individuals are seeking out destinations and organizations that have completed a certification program through an accredited source. IBCCES is the only credentialing organization providing this type of certification, which includes evidence-based information as well as the perspectives of individuals with autism, alongside other tools and resources such as onsite reviews and customized recommendations to ensure the program is a long-term commitment and has a lasting impact.

“We’re excited to work with another unique experience to ensure all families and individuals have options,” said Myron Pincomb, IBCCES Board Chairman. “Organizations can no longer ignore the huge number of individuals looking for trained and certified options.”

IBCCES also created AutismTravel.com, a free online resource for families and individuals looking for travel and recreation options that lists certified destinations and travel professionals. Each destination listed on the site has met Certified Autism Center™ (CAC) requirements.
