3rd ANNUAL ARIZONA HISTORICAL PHOTOGRAPHS FAIR
AT THE ARIZONA HISTORICAL SOCIETY MUSEUM AT PAPAGO PARK

The Arizona Historical Society Museum at Papago Park encourages the public to submit photographs for the 3rd Annual Historical Photographs Fair. For 2010, the museum is especially seeking photographs accompanied by stories that enrich our understanding of Arizona. All photographs are welcome, but we are especially looking for images that remain vivid because of what you can say about them. Awards will be presented to the top three entries in each of five categories:
• People - Images that tell about arrival, dwelling, family history and/or occupation
• Business & Commerce - Images documenting all types of enterprises
• Life Styles - Images showing Arizona people engaged in every-day activities
• Cities & Towns - Specific views of any incorporated area in the state
• Events - Images that depict a special event-either an annual event or a one-time only activity
• Transportation - Images showing historic modes of transportation in Arizona
Notable photograph advisors will judges entries on photographic merit as well as on the information that accompanies them. Reproductions of selected photographs will remain on exhibit at the Museum from March 20 through the summer of 2010.
This event encourages all to rediscover photographs revealing stories about people, places, and events throughout Arizona. If you wish to submit a photograph into the contest, please bring all entries to the Arizona Historical Society Museum at Papago Park between the hours of 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. (Sundays 12 p.m. until 4 p.m.). The deadline for submissions is February 22.
Museum representatives will also be going to various locations in the Valley to receive submissions. Locations and times for these delivery points will be determined soon.
The Photographs Fair will be held at the AHS Museum at Papago Park on Saturday, March 20, 2010 from 11:00 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Museum, 1300 North College Avenue, Tempe, Arizona. The highlight of the event will be an exhibit displaying the winners of this year's Historical Photographs Contest. The event will also feature a book sale by Arcadia Press, camera club displays, speakers on photography topics, and photography-themed activities for children. Admission to the museum will be free.
