Asia's Growing Debt Burden the Focus of the Private Debt Investor Asia Forum in Hong Kong

Impacts of shadow banking on capital structure in Asian markets and emerging opportunities for direct lenders will top the agenda this November.

Private Debt Investor is pleased to announce the inaugural PDI Asia Forum on 12 November 2015, at the Harbour Grand in Hong Kong.

The Private Debt Investor Asia Forum 2015 will discuss the evolution of private lending in Asia and the opportunities and challenges for credit funds and alternative lending.

How to service Asia's growing debt burden is one of the biggest issue for financial markets today.

Slowing Asian economies, the credit squeeze on SMEs in India and China, and the rise in shadow banking are testing the structural integrity of the region's financiers, according to Christopher Petersen, Managing Director – Asia for Private Debt Investor's publisher, PEI.

"Regulators and investors are approaching non-bank financing and direct lenders with caution. Banks are now much more reluctant to lend to small and medium enterprises than before, and the level and quality of off-balance-sheet lending is unknown.”

"Weaker corporates will be forced to restructure, while at the same time, healthy private companies are faced with fewer traditional credit options. This translates into opportunity for credit funds and other non-bank entities willing to lend," said Mr Petersen.

With a particular focus on Asia’s most active private debt markets, the Private Debt Investor Asia Forum 2015 will convene the leading voices from private debt funds, institutional investors, hedge funds and advisories.

Topics of discussion will include: the rise of private debt as an asset class in Asia; how private debt investors can benefit from a property downturn in China; private debt vs. private equity; NPLs, distressed investing, restructuring and debt recovery; and special spotlight panels on Australia, Japan, Korea and South East Asia.

Registration is now available for the Private Debt Investor Asia Forum. The event will be held at Harbour Grand Hong Kong, 23 Oil Street, North Point, Hong Kong. The one-day programme will commence at 8.30am and conclude with a networking cocktail evening.

The conference is hosted by Private Debt Investor, the world’s leading specialist title for information and analysis on global private debt markets.
