Aurora Engineering finishes design on FitBus for Pure Joy Pediatrics
Online, November 6, 2009 (Newswire.com) - Aurora Engineering, an Oakland County based Design and Training firm, known for its continuing work on the Humanitarian "Flying Hospital Program," has just completed the engineering for the "FitBus" project. "FitBus: the Art of Healthy Living", is a mobile health unit focused on educating our youth using nutrition, exercise, and life lessons all intended to combat childhood obesity and promote healthy living in urban communities. FitBus represents the joint efforts of Pure Joy Pediatrics, Riley's Dance Theatre, Aurora Engineering, Timbuktu Cafe, and many other local volunteers. Local pediatrician, Dr. La Donna Hendricks of Pure Joy Pediatrics, developed the initial idea of the "FitBus" after growing tired of watching children become more unhealthy due to lack of education and exposure to healthier options. According the 2009 University of Michigan National Poll on Children's Health, adult's rate childhood obesity as their number one health concern for children living in their communities. FitBus is an opportunity to change this. Working with Aurora Engineering and the other participants, the FitBus will deliver the proper education to the children and parents when they are there and, in addition, offer continuing education to the kids and their parents through online programs through the student's schools and at home.
