Australian Band 1927 To Hit Hard Rock Cafes For The First Time In Malaysia
Online, March 28, 2013 (Newswire.com) - One of Australia's most renowned bands, 1927, will be performing for the first time in Malaysia as part of their "Generation-i" tour of South East Asia. The band will be performing in the recently opened Hard Rock Cafe Melaka on 7 April, and Hard Rock Cafe Kuala Lumpur on 8 April.
The band comprises of lead singer Erik Weideman, lead guitarist Craig Laird, basist Simon Shapiro and drummer Damien Cooper. The 23-year-old band first burst onto the scene with their debut album "...ISH", which sold half a million copies in Australia. The album produced hit singles, "That's When I Think of You", "If I Could", "You'll Never Know" and "Compulsory Hero", and it remains one of the highest selling debut albums ever by an Australian band.
1927 continued to hit the music scene hard with the release of their latest album, "Generation-i" in 2012. The band took three years to launch the album and once again, it showcases their talented songwriting skills. The album is prepared and compiled by Erik Weideman and the band with a thoughtful and mature selection of new songs targeted at the older and younger generations.
"We are delighted that a renowned Australian band such as 1927 has chosen Hard Rock Cafe Kuala Lumpur and Melaka to stage their performances. The band has held unbeatable records in Australia's musical industry, and will provide unforgettable moments for Malaysians to experience," said Nor Esah Abdul Ghani, Marketing Manager of Hard Rock Cafe Kuala Lumpur.
Fans of 1927 will be able to reacquaint themselves with the band, which was also invited as special guests on the recent Roxette tour of Australia, playing to over 100,000 people with rave reviews. Their performance in Melaka and Kuala Lumpur will feature a combination of their classical hits together with their latest release.
1927 will be joining the illustrious list of bands that have performed in Hard Rock Cafe Kuala Lumpur such as I Am Giant and Go West. 1927 will also be the first Australian band to perform at the newly opened Hard Rock Cafe Melaka, located at the entrance of the Jonker Walk within the UNESCO World Heritage Site. The 1,372-square-metre property features over 90 memorabilia from Hard Rock's iconic collection, ranging from a Fender Telecaster guitar played and signed by the legendary Bruce Springsteen, to a jacket worn by will.i.am of the Black Eyed Peas during his solo album promotion of "Songs About Girls" in 2007.
