Author Achieves Dream Of Publication Through Magic Of E-Publishing
Online, May 19, 2011 (Newswire.com) - Downers Grove author and resident Ben Crofton has published his debut novel, Trial by Night, a supernatural thriller that details the plight of a senior-year college student as he struggles with schoolwork, love...and an extra-dimensional predator that seems bent on his destruction. A gripping tale of ancient secrets, devastating betrayal and redemption, Trial by Night is a page-turner that grabs on right from the beginning and never lets go.
Like many new authors, Crofton suffered from a bout of rejections from both agents and publishers. After initially shelving his project with the belief that it would never see the light of day, Crofton was introduced to the concept of publishing for e-readers while he attended a writing seminar at his local library.
"Attending that presentation was the best thing I ever did for my writing," says Crofton. "I was so obsessed with the idea of seeing my book on a store shelf, the idea of e-publishing had never even occurred to me."
Many other fledgling authors find themselves in Crofton's shoes - unable to find representation with a professional agency, e-publishing is an appealing alternative to months spent waiting for those inevitable rejection letters to arrive.
"I'd recommend this route to anyone with a story to tell," says Crofton. "Try the traditional route first, but if that fails, at least you know you have a good alternative for your voice to be heard."

About Ben Crofton
Ben Crofton is a lifelong Chicago suburban native, and has been an avid writer since high school.
What attracts Ben to horror? Mainly the fact that he has always found the genre to be highly entertaining. That is, after all, the whole reason Ben writes - for the enjoyment and entertainment of others (and also because of fact that if he didn't write, he'd probably lose his mind). In his spare time, Ben enjoys spending time with his family, gardening, random home-improvement projects, gaming, reading, listening to (and, to a lesser extent, writing) music, volunteerism, and a host of other mis-matched and potentially confounding activities.
