Author JC Little Takes on Motherhood with Her Second Picture Book
Award-winning story artist JC Little has authored a touching picture book that captures a universal theme without a single word: the experience of motherhood.
Online, April 27, 2014 (Newswire.com) - Montreal-based story artist JC Little has turned her 2012 BlogHer Voice of the Year (VOTY) awarded blog post into a wordless picture book to celebrate mothers everywhere.
Simply titled Motherhood, the sophomore effort from JC wordlessly tells the universal story of motherhood, from the gentle moment of birth to the inevitable letting go. In the playful and poignant simplicity that is her signature style, JC Little has captured the tender bond between mother and child, and created a timeless and wordless picture-book for mothers, sons, and daughters of all ages.
"Becoming a mother is profoundly emotional," says JC. "I wanted to have the story resonate with anyone, anywhere, whether grandparent, parent or child."
Motherhood is a book for all ages. The unique presentation of the story through pictures allows the youngest readers to create their own narrative, while the nature of the story changes and takes on new meaning for adolescent, midlife, and mature readers, as children grow up to have lives of their own.
Motherhood by JC Little, is available now in paperback on CreateSpace and Amazon, and on Amazon for Kindle eBook.
Here's what others are already saying about Motherhood:
"I'm not sure how JC Little is able to heartwarmingly share motherhood without a single word, but she does! And brilliantly."
- Award-winning author Rachel Thompson, Broken Pieces
"JC is the rare artist who combines adult understanding, childlike curiosity, humor, and honest emotion into color and story."
- Neil Kramer, screenwriter & author of Citizen of the Month
"JC's illustrations are so simple, yet so totally able to make mascara run all over my face. This is a really sweet one for moms -- way better than a greeting card."
- ML Philpott, writer & artist
"There are emotions that words can never capture, which is exactly why JC Little's book goes right where words can't - to the heart, where we first feel our motherhood. I love this book."
- Alexandra Rosas, Good Day Regular People
