The MSP Centrifuge has partnered with Vernon Southmayd, the developer of App-Care, an innovative and cutting edge software application that integrates with LabTech (RMM Tool) and automatically updates vital third party applications. This partnership was forged in an effort to make available to Managed Service Providers (MSP) firms a way to manage and maintain third party applications more efficiently and cost effectively.

One of the most overlooked vulnerabilities by today's standard is the non-Microsoft applications loaded on your workstation, laptop or servers. The cyber-criminals (aka hackers) are finding it harder and harder to successfully attack the core of Microsoft Windows Operating Systems since Windows 7 and Server 2008 have been released. So, naturally, they are testing the waters with non-Microsoft applications, and they are finding it is much easier to infiltrate your systems via this method. Some more notable attacks which have occurred this year were Adobe (acrobat & flash), Oracle (Java), & Mozilla (Firefox) based applications. Hackers were able to exploit vulnerabilities in those applications and gain access to those systems without the user's knowledge. Each of the aforementioned are considered 3rd party applications which are not updated by the Microsoft Windows Automatic Updates or any other centrally managed automated solution until now.

App-Care provides an easy to implement solution which immediately begins auditing, patching, documenting and even billing updates of third party applications. Instead of learning scripting languages, researching command line parameters and creating processes to document your application updates, with App-Care you can invest your time learning other areas of Labtech, your PSA software or concentrating on your clients.

The applications currently updated or installed by App-Care are:
• Adobe Flash ActiveX and Firefox Plugin
• Adobe Shockwave
• Adobe Reader 9.x
• Adobe Reader X
• Apple iTunes
• Apple QuickTime
• Apple Safari
• Mozilla Firefox
• Mozilla Thunderbird
• Oracle Java Runtime (both 32 and 64bit Java on 64bit OS's)
• PDF Creator (open source edition)
• Skype

App-Care does many other functions that are focused on auditing applications, updating hard-to-update systems, and automating processes. App-Care leverages all automation options available in Labtech to eliminate as much administration as possible.
