Avenda Systems' New eTIPS 3.0 Identity-Aware Network Security Solution Provides Latest in Comprehensive Deployment Options for Securing Network Access
New virtual appliances and platform enhancements for latest Microsoft and Apple Operating Systems unveiled at RSA 2010 Conference in San Francisco.
Online, March 1, 2010 (Newswire.com) - San Francisco, Calif. - March 1, 2010 - Avenda Systems, the innovator in identity-based network security, today introduced the latest in identity-based authentication and NAC capabilities for securing today's enterprise networks with its new release, eTIPS 3.0. Included in the eTIPS 3.0 release are two new solutions - eTIPS VM, a virtual appliance offering for the data center; and Edge, a remote access authentication gateway. Also, additional enhancements to the award-winning eTIPS multi-function platform include comprehensive health checks for Microsoft Windows 7, 802.1X deployment support for the iPhone OS, and the hosting of web-based captive portals for the industry's leading wireless solutions.
Avenda's entry into the virtual infrastructure is in response to customer requirements for AAA and NAC functions to reside on existing datacenter resources, eliminating the need to add new hardware to the network. Avenda's eTIPS VM authentication and access control solution allows customers to take full advantage of their VMWare virtualization management features, while saving money through reduced hardware, power, cooling and administration costs.
"Deploying stronger wireless security across the large geographic area that encompasses our district had been a big hurdle," said Pav Pottekkat, Manager of Information Technology, Algoma District School Board. "The use of Avenda's virtual appliances enables us to take advantage of the resources we currently have in place, while also minimizing our roll-out and management efforts."
Deployed in conjunction with eTIPS, Avenda's new Edge remote access authentication gateway enables access enforcement based on the health status of endpoints used by remote users over VPN devices. Health policies - such as anti-malware, firewall, patches and corporate image checks configured for wired and wireless access - can now be used to authorize both corporate-owned and user-owned devices accessing corporate resources over a remote VPN connection.
This new release also introduces built-in support of external captive portals for Enterasys, Cisco, Aruba and Xirrus wireless equipment. This new capability enables centralized web authentication and endpoint health checking of guests, partners, contractors and employees for wireless, wired and VPN access via a unified policy model.
"Avenda continues to demonstrate technical leadership within the network access security market by enhancing deployment capabilities, and extending platform and vendor interoperability," said Santhosh Cheeniyil, VP of Engineering at Avenda Systems. "The introduction of eTIPS 3.0 functionality to securely authenticate Windows 7 and Apple iPhone users satisfies growing customer demand to support multi-platform networks; Windows, Linux, and Mac."
Visit Avenda at the RSA Conference 2010 from March 2 - 4 in Booth 558 to see these latest advancements, as well as the following new capabilities introduced in eTIPS 3.0:
• GuestConnect - Comprehensive guest access management via Sponsor or Self Registration with support for PCI DSS payment gateways
• Insight - Advanced reporting and archiving with threshold based real-time alerts
• Quick1X - Auto configuration wizard for making endpoints 802.1X and NAP ready. Now with Windows 7 and iPhone support
