Avio Partnership With US Army

AVIO S.p.A. and U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command Aviation & Missile Center partner for the development and fast-prototyping of a solid rocket motor for surface-to-air applications. The project leverages on both parties’ expertise to qualify the propulsion system in a design-to-manufacturing approach, offering the possibility for a future rapid transition to production.

Avio operates in Italy, France and France Guyana with 5 facilities, employing approx. 1,400 highly qualified personnel, of which approx. 30% are involved in research and development. Avio is a prime contractor for the Vega programme and a subcontractor for the Ariane programme, both financed by the European Space Agency (ESA) placing Italy among the limited number of countries capable of producing a complete spacecraft.
