Avoid Bad Wedding Planner Nightmares: Plan Your Own Wedding with a Guidebook

Wedding planners are extremely expensive, costing anywhere from $1,500 to $10,000 or even more, and in this day and age of financial hardship, who has that kind of money to shell out to a wedding planner?

Kansas, USA, January 4, 2010 - Paying these exorbitant sums does not guarantee that the wedding planner will do a good job - consider just two of the nightmare scenarios posted by disappointed wedding planner customers from various online forums:

"[My wedding planners] forgot to order the cake topper, ordered twice the amount of linens that we needed and charged them on my parents' credit card, reserved the wrong size tables, yelled at our guests, AND LEFT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE RECEPTION!!" -- from PartyPop.com forum

"...the coordination of her services made me late to my own wedding!! ... This tardiness cost me not only: 1) $200 USD (because the taxi cab drivers had to wait for me and my bridesmaids...), 2) an hour long wait time and unnecessary anxiety for me, my guests, my poor groom and his family, but 3) ruined the timing of my sunset wedding pictures! ... I was devastated because I had really dreamed of pictures with turquoise waters in the background... To add insult to injury, I was further disappointed and embarrassed when my bridesmaids described [the wedding planner] as 'rude'." -- from TripAdvisor.co.uk Isla Mujeres Forum.
Given the potential disasters caused by wedding planners who are unprofessional, unfamiliar with the families, or simply do not deliver on the promises they make, one might wonder if it is even necessary to hire a wedding planner.

There are other options for wedding planning. From guidebooks that can be purchased at the local bookstore to magazines and websites, brides, grooms, and their families have plenty of choices besides paying the high rates of a wedding planner.

One such guide that can be found online is PlanningMyWeddingDay.com.
