Award-Winning Children's Authors Help Kids See a Brighter Future
Nationally recognized children's authors will come together to raise funds to support families whose children have been diagnosed with vision-related diseases.
PASADENA, CA, July 23, 2014 (Newswire.com) - Three nationally-recognized, award-winning children's authors, Hayley Rose, Danielle Leibovici and Elle Febbo will spend the afternoon engaging local children in story time - from Zach and Chloe's adventures with the Manner Monster to a lost boy who finds his way home to the inspiring journey through the ABC's of love.
Rose will read from her latest book, The Do's and Don'ts, a whimsical tale that compares and contrasts good and bad behavior using the Manner Monster; Leibovici will read, Under the Tree, the adventure of a lost boy who discovers how to get home; and, Febbo will inspire children through powerful affirmations of love with her book, What Love is...A-Z.
The three authors will donate 100% of the profits from book sales at the event to the Institute for Families, a 501(c)3 that provides counseling and support to families faced with diagnoses of diseases that impact vision.
“I have a personal connection to the Institute for Families. I was born with a vision-related impairment and had to undergo numerous eye surgeries to save my vision. The Blind Children's Center, of which the Institute for Families is founded on, was there for me and my family every step of the way with their resources, support and love. As an award-winning author, I now have the resources to give back that same love and support through this extraordinary free event for families. The money raised will supply visual aid dolls and toys to the same needed babies, children and families the center continues to support,” states Leibovici.
"We can do so much more than share the love of reading with kids," says Hayley Rose, author of The Do's and Don'ts. "We can also show them the importance of giving back and supporting their community at the same time.”
The free family event is being hosted at the Pasadena Central Library (285 E. Walnut Street) in the Donald R. Wright Auditorium on Saturday, July 26th at 2:00 pm. There will also be hands-on activities for the children and giveaways.

Hayley's Book: The Do's and Don'ts
The Do’s and Don’ts is a whimsical lesson book aimed at teaching young readers the difference between good and bad behavior/etiquette. In the book Zack and Chloe go from being manner monsters to well-behaved children as they provide samples of typical scenarios that not only young children encounter but can relate to. For example, Zack becomes a Manner Monster when he loses a game, kicking and pouting like a poor sport. In contract, good behavior is then modeled depicting Zack congratulating the winning team. Unlike other etiquette books for children that tell a story or just communicate positive behavior, The Do’s and Don’ts compares and contrasts between good and bad behavior. Simply, yet colorfully displayed, are examples of inappropriate behavior and decisions young children may display followed by behavior and decisions that are more socially accepted. Each compare and contrast anecdote is set in the same scene so that young readers can instantly see the differences between good and poor behavior.
