In the hustle and bustle of today's society many of us are running around like zombies getting little to no sleep, and the sleep we do get is restless and unproductive. This creates seriously harsh environments and jeopardizes relationships. "When I am tired, I am a different person, it literally changes my personality," says Move Consultant, Heather Evans of TWO MEN AND A TRUCK®, Sacramento.
Depending on your age, people require different amounts of sleep. Generally speaking, Infants require about 16 hours a day, teenagers need about 9 hours on average. While most adults need 7 to 8 hours a night for the best amount of sleep, although some people may need as few as 5 hours or as many as 10 hours of sleep each day. Though most experts believe that feeling drowsy during the day or even yawning when you're bored is an indicator that you have not had enough sleep.

Consequences associated with too little sleep are: loss of memory, depression, weakened immunities, and sensitivity to pain. Sleep deprivation can also be danger to those surrounding the tired person, especially if the tired person is behind the wheel of a car. Sleep deprived people account for an estimated 56,000 motor vehicle accidents and 1,500 deaths each year, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

That's a huge number, especially when the problem is correctable by simply sleeping. Sure there are those who have sleep disorders, but many people don't sleep because they are too busy, watching TV, working too hard or socializing.

It is important that we prioritize our activities and sleep; it's good for our health and the safety of others around us. Make a rule, no TV after 9. Or read a book instead, take a bubble bath, create a bed time routine. However you need to make it happen. Sleep is vital to our proper and safe functioning. You'll quickly see a more productive and happier you, Sweet Dreams!!
