Award-Winning Parent and Child Music Program, LoveBug & Me Music, Showcases Music, Story-Telling and Diversity in Its Online Fall Music Series 'The Story Garden'
LOS ANGELES, August 24, 2020 (Newswire.com) - LoveBug & Me Music’s award-winning music curriculum is shining a spotlight on literacy and diversity in its upcoming online fall music series “The Story Garden,” starting the week of Aug. 31. This popular, Los Angeles-based program, geared towards infants through 6 years of age, will bring children's books to life through singing, dancing and imaginative play. Its book selections include traditional favorites and lesser-known books that feature diverse cultures and characters.
“Children are never too young to learn about diversity,” says LoveBug & Me owner Mary Arden Gorman. “We know that kids first learn by watching and listening. Starting them off with books that show varied skin colors and ways of life, as well as introducing concepts such as inclusion and kindness, is a great way to plant the seeds of equality and acceptance.”
LoveBug & Me Music teachers, called Magical Music Educators, perform live-streaming, interactive classes daily, allowing families to connect with friends, families and classmates from around the country. “I’m so grateful to have found this online program. Being a first-time mom during a pandemic is pretty tough, and LoveBug classes are such a bright spot for us,” says Katherine Hamilton of Los Angeles, California, mother of a 4-month-old son.
As a supporter of many local and nationwide organizations, LoveBug & Me donates a portion of every series registration to charity. Reach Out And Read (ReachoutAndRead.org) will be its fall charity recipient. This organization trains doctors and nurses to educate parents about the value of reading and provides books to an estimated 1.7 million kids each year. LoveBug & Me also offers scholarships to economically disadvantaged students, which has been helpful to families who have suffered the loss of income during the pandemic.
