Ayrshire Farm Presents First Occasional Farm Feast On September 15

Enjoy a Delicious Farm Feast Prepared by Ayrshire Farm Chefs in a Spectacular Setting

Ayrshire Farm announced today that it will host the First Occasional Farm Feast on Saturday, September 15, 2012 from 3 p.m. to sunset at Ayrshire Farm (21846 Trappe Road, Upperville, Va. 20184). This is an opportunity to enjoy an elegant down-home meal featuring the best of Ayrshire Farm's fresh products and local foods, prepared by the talented chefs of Ayrshire Farm. Guests will enjoy local wine and beer, hay-wagon tours of the farm, live music and demonstrations by Ayrshire chefs and livestock managers who will share their vision and dedication to Certified Organic, Certified Humane, and sustainable farming practices. The cost is $165 per person and includes all activities as well as featured wines and beer selections. The event is rain or shine.

The menu for the afternoon and evening includes a salad of grilled peaches, field greens, heirloom pecans and honey-lavender vinaigrette, followed by an appetizer of tomato, thyme and a local goat's cheese tart. The dinner entree is fire-pit pork using Ayrshire Farm's famous heritage breed pork, with sides of three-corn pudding and radicchio slaw. Blackberry cobbler, with local berries of course, topped with local vanilla ice cream finishes off this scrumptious meal.

The event schedule includes hay-wagon rides beginning at 3 p.m., demonstrations at the Shire Horse Stable beginning at 3:30 p.m., cocktails and hors d'oeuvres will be served in the stable courtyard at 5 p.m., a demonstration of "farm-to-table cooking" will take place in the stable courtyard at 5:30 p.m., and the dinner begins at 6 p.m.

This is an opportunity to experience great local food, hear how it's produced and see one of the most beautiful, and only, certified organic, certified humane, and heritage breed farms in the country-which is not open to the public.

Tickets to the First Occasional Farm Feast are nonrefundable and space is limited. To purchase tickets, call 540-592-7018, or visit www.ayrshirefarm.com.
