Baal Hamon Publishers, a small press and imprint of the Joy and Truth Christian Ministry, has announced changes to its manuscript submission guidelines for authors intending to have their books published by the firm.

Baal Hamon Publishers, a small press and imprint of the Joy and Truth Christian Ministry, has announced changes to its manuscript submission guidelines for authors intending to have their books published by the firm. According to the new guidelines, only manuscripts that have passed through a professional Christian editor or professional Christian manuscript critique services will be considered by the firm. Previously, all unsolicited manuscripts sent to the publisher were reviewed. With the new changes, however, the firm is insisting on qualitative submissions as it says most unsolicited manuscripts are rarely worth the while of reviewing them. As a small press, the cost of reviewing low grade unsolicited works accounts for a sizeable percentage of the expenses of the editorial department of the firm. Hence, the firm now requires that all submissions that are sent to it must have been assessed by any of Writers Edge, ECPA First Edition or the Christian Communicator manuscript critique service. The alternative, according to the Submission Guidelines page of the publisher's website www.baalhamon.com is for the authors to make use of a fee-based manuscript critique service of the firm itself.

The publisher does not receive reports from Writers Edge, ECPA or the Christian Communicator. Authors must, however, provide proofs to the publisher that their manuscripts have been assessed and passed by any of these three before the submission will be considered for acceptance by the publisher.

For authors who have not used any of the manuscript evaluation services of Writers Edge, ECPA or the Christian Communicator, Baal Hamon Publishers offers the alternative of using its own fee-based manuscript critique service. The manuscript evaluation service provides a critical analysis of the manuscript an author sends in for consideration. The service provides a detailed report to the author about the quality of their manuscript and why Baal Hamon Publishers find it publishable or un-publishable. The manuscripts that Baal Hamon Publishers find publishable will be accepted for publication at no further cost to the author but for the un-publishable ones, Baal Hamon will provide advice to the author on how to improve upon the work. The service costs a mere US$20.
