BACA Golf Day A Swinging Success

Online, July 18, 2012 (Newswire.com) - For the 2nd year running, the Baltic Air Charter Association's Golf Day has been a rousing success.

This year, the group teed off at one of the UK's premier golf courses, the Waterfall Course in Mannings Heath, Sussex. Despite heavy rain battering the UK in the run up to the event, not only did the clouds miraculously stop their assault for the day, but the course remained in exemplary condition - Steve Wells, a BACA council member, referred to the greens as "fast and true". This lucky combination allowed the assembled to commence proceedings on schedule at 10 (each participant having prepared themselves for the day ahead with a swift breakfast of coffee and bacon roll at 9), and play all day without the need for an umbrella.

The games were competitive, but they didn't drive a wedge between the participants - in fact, the contest proved to be a tremendous networking opportunity, which is par for the course when it comes to BACA events. Players representing 21 different aviation companies attended the day, in the form of seven trios. The final team finished the 18th at half past four, just in time for the evening's celebrations - namely, a three course dinner and awards show. Prizes were given to the top three teams and players (Phil Thompsett scooping first place in the individual stake, scoring a whopping 45 points despite a handicap of 24!) - other categories included straightest drive, longest drive, and nearest the pin.
