Balentine Announces Summer Reading List

Balentine announced its 2011 Summer Reading List. This list of 10 books ranges from a biography of the tumultuous life of R.J. Reynolds to the Pulitzer Prize winning classic, To Kill a Mockingbird.

Balentine, an independent, employee-owned investment management firm serving individuals, families and not-for-profit institutions, announced its 2011 Summer Reading List today. This list of 10 books ranges from a biography of the tumultuous life of R.J. Reynolds to the Pulitzer Prize winning classic, To Kill a Mockingbird.

After soliciting suggestions from employees and Facebook fans, Balentine narrowed that list to 10 fiction and non-fiction books. This comprehensive list is representative of the interests of Balentine's team members and online community and is aimed at engaging clients and friends of the firm as well as our own staff.

Discussing this summer's Reading List, Jeff Adams, Balentine's President explained, "It was fun to canvass our highly talented, diverse and well-read team here at Balentine to generate a list of suggested summer reading for clients and friends of the firm. The list includes a range of offerings from light beach fare to more serious and thought provoking works." He continued, "We encourage readers to dive in, and we welcome and encourage comments on our Facebook page. We hope readers will feel free to offer commentary or random thoughts about what they got from their reading experiences. Here's to a pleasurable summer - and fun reading!"

Balentine kicked off its Summer Reading with To Kill a Mockingbird. Brittain Prigge, the Director of Balentine's Client Relationship Team, shared her video recommendation of the book, discussing why it is still relevant today. A member of Balentine's team or Facebook community will share a recommendation of one book from the list each week throughout the summer. Those recommendations are available through Balentine's Facebook page.

The 10 books selected for the 2011 Balentine Summer Reading List include:

To Kill a Mockingbird, by Harper Lee
Rubicon: Last Years of the Roman Republic, by Tom Holland
