Bastard Son Celebrates Grand Opening at Royal Hollywood

Los Angeles, CA, May 19, 2017 (Newswire.com) - Bastard Son celebrated its grand opening at the Royal bar in Hollywood earlier this month. The new Southern-inspired bar food concept is brought to you by the folks behind Poppy + Rose, a downtown comfort fare restaurant best known for its popular brunch, and Peaches' Smokehouse & Southern Kitchen, an acclaimed BBQ and Southern food truck, in partnership with Josh Kopel, owner of Royal and Preux & Proper in downtown LA.

"Royal is a New Orleans dive bar located in the heart of Hollywood," says Joshua Kopel, owner of Royal. "We wanted to partner with folks who had the same sensibilities as we do, and who can execute a menu that pairs seamlessly with our bar program."

“Bastard Son was a natural fit for Royal,” says Diana Yin, owner of Bastard Son. “Our chef, Juan Chestang, was previously the Chef de Cuisine for Peaches’, so not only is he well-versed in Southern cuisine, but he understands how to execute killer from-scratch dishes from a small kitchen even during high-volume services. We wanted to expand upon what we’re known for, which is Southern comfort food, but give it a New Orleans twist to fit the theme of Royal.”

Brian Restivo, general manager at Royal, says: “When I first came up with the idea to partner with a food truck operator, I specifically looked for folks with a great reputation and strong customer base. Diana’s other concepts have the reputation we were looking for, and she and her team have demonstrated the culinary and marketing expertise we needed, as well.“
