A healthy diet is a must, healthy lifestyle, and a good skin care regimen are all essential components of looking and feeling your best. Our skin is truly a reflection of everything you feel and everything you consume. If you are stressed, guess what? It shows in your skin's appearance. If you are eating poorly, guess what? it shows in your skin's appearance. If you are dehydrated, guess what? You got it, it shows in your skin's appearacne. You get my point. So today I will help you understand some specific things you can control to help you have that beautiful skin you want.

Diet is the most important thing to consider, if your diet is poor then nothing else you do will be all that much help. So this is the first thing you should correct if need be. Our skin depends on the vitamins and minerals we get from our food in order to be vibrant and glowing. Make sure your diet includes plenty of fresh vegetables, fruits and water.

Smoking has a profound effect on your skin's appearance. Smokers will notice (as will everyone else that looks at a smoker) much less elasticity and much more premature wrinkling. This is probably the number one no no if you want beautiful skin.

Sun is a close second to smoking in how it speeds up the aging process. It is not only the people who sun bathe that are in trouble of premature aging, it's anyone who does not use a good sunscreen daily. Sun exposure will dramatically speed the aging process of your skin. There will be a lot less elasticity, a lot more discoloration and wrinkling. Use your sunscreen, even in the winter months.

Sleep is essential to having beautiful skin. Seven to eight hours is necessary for skin to have the time it needs to repair the damage of the day. This is why it is equally important to make sure you cleanse and moisturize before going to bed. Skin is much more able to accept the products you apply at night. It's the perfect time to take advantage of skin's ability to soak it all in better than any other time of the day.

Exercise provides the increased circulation your skin needs to have that glow you are after. Always remove make up before you exercise, otherwise you are providing the perfect environment for bacteria and break outs.

Stress relief is essential. You will notice you are much more likely to consume poor quality foods when you are stressed. Your sleep will be affected, you are less likely to exercise, more likely to drink alcohol etc. So try to relax each day. I know it's easier said than done, but it needs to be done anyway.

Some foods to include in your daily diet according to the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition are dark colored produce such as carrots, sweet potatoes, tomatoes, watermelon, papaya, broccoli and spinach, just to name a few. You cannot go wrong with any fresh fruit or vegetable, or any whole grain products, and good essential fats like fish and oil provide.
