Bedbugs: Luggage May Help Them Invade Your Home.
Bedbugs On the Rise: New Line of Luggage Developed;
Deters Them From Getting in and Bringing Them Home.
A new line of luggage has been developed that helps to keep travellers across North America from unwittingly bringing a human parasite known as bed bugs, home from their stay from infested hotels. Bringing home a single "gravid" (pregnant and fertilized) female bed bug could become a major infestation at home. The new luggage, recently created by Rise(TM), Hangs in a closet out of reach of the creepy crawlers so they aren't mistakenly brought home.
Bed bugs are not spread by poor hygiene, but more travel and their ability to resist the affects of pesticides. They are also very difficult to detect. Once they have infested they are also difficult and expensive to exterminate often costing in the thousands. The best defence is to avoid infestation.
Typically travellers will leave their luggage in dressers, beds or on the floor making them susceptible to a bed bug finding their way inside ready to be brought home.
The bag developed by Rise(TM) has shelves that stow clothes are pulled out from inside the bag. Hooks attached to the shelves are then used to hang the bag on a closet rod or door out of reach from the critters. The bag also has the added benefit of keeping travellers organized on their stay with a place on the shelves for their respective belongings. Dirty clothes are kept on the bottom separated from the clean ones making laundry simple upon their return.
There are two versions of the Rise system; a duffel bag and a luggage organizer insert.
