Bellwether Community Credit Union Donates $15,000 to NH Food Bank
Online, February 10, 2011 (Newswire.com) - Bellwether Community Credit Union is continuing to help the New Hampshire Food Bank, a program of NH Catholic Charities, find ways to fight hunger. On February 7th, Bellwether President/CEO, Michael L'Ecuyer presented the New Hampshire Food Bank with a $15,000 check for their Community Campaign. The donation is yet another example of Bellwether Community Credit Union's continued support of the state's only food bank.
The New Hampshire Food Bank first introduced their $4 million capital campaign in October 2010. Funds raised will benefit their new facility on Industrial Park Drive in Manchester. This dynamic new space enables the Food Bank to keep up with the growing demand of the 400 plus registered agencies, in a more efficient and equitable manner. In addition to food distribution, some of the outreach programs offered at the New Hampshire Food Bank include job training, nutrition education and an off-site production garden to grow vegetables for the organization and their agencies.
"Bellwether Community Credit Union is excited about this very important project," said Michael L'Ecuyer, President/CEO of Bellwether Community Credit Union. "We are pleased to do our part to help New Hampshire households in need."
"We are incredibly grateful to Bellwether Community Credit Union for their continued support," explained Mel Gosselin, Executive Director at the New Hampshire Food Bank. "Their generosity is another extension of their genuine commitment to the community."
The New Hampshire Food Bank, a program of New Hampshire Catholic Charities, has been working to relieve hunger in the Granite State since 1984. Each year, the organization efficiently procures and distributes over 6 million pounds of food through more than 410 non-profit registered agencies. Agencies include food pantries, neighborhood centers, low-income housing sites, senior nutrition centers, family crisis centers, hospices, soup kitchens, emergency shelters, after school programs, and day care centers.
