Beloved Internet Mascot Kidnapped To Raise Funds for Tribal Blogs Conference

Online, May 9, 2011 (Newswire.com) - - Tribal Blogs Professional Blog Network (www.tribalblogs.net), a community of over 1,000 national and international bloggers, issued an announcement in February regarding the first ever Tribal Blogs conference. The conference is being held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Bloomington, Minnesota June 23-25, 2011.

Founder of Tribal Blogs, Jennifer Brown, launched the Kickstarter project less than a week ago, and is deeply moved by the response she's already received. "Because Kickstarter is an all or nothing type funding method, we set the goal low, at $500. We surpassed that amount after just 2 days and I was overwhelmed! I can't even begin to express how grateful I am to everyone."

While conference fees will be covering a large portion of the costs, the goal is to provide an affordable learning experience to as many writers as possible. This means not all the costs are being covered by registration. The objective of the Kickstarter project is to fulfill the remaining cost obligations, as well as sponsor several deserving, struggling writers.

"While we've already had such a positive response," Brown laughs as she adds, "We knew it would take more to meet our goals. We were desperate. We kidnapped Bacon as a last resort. We've already contacted Devon, Bacon's owner, and let her know we're prepared to give Bacon back, for a price. Of course, if there were a meat processing company out there prepared to sponsor us for Bacon's return, we'd be more than happy to negotiate!"
