Online, October 11, 2010 (Newswire.com) - "Moving through Grief," a special program of music, words and reflection for anyone who has experienced pregnancy or newborn loss will be held at Beth Israel Medical Center on Thursday, October 28, from 6 to 7:30pm.
Organized by Beth Israel's Perinatal Bereavement Program, the gathering at the Phillips Ambulatory Care Center (PACC) Auditorium will feature guest speaker Perry-Lynn Moffitt, co-author of A Silent Sorrow: Pregnancy Loss. PACC is located at 10 Union Square East, between 14th and 15th Streets, in Manhattan.
"We encourage those attending to bring artwork, journals, scrapbooks or poetry to share with others," said Ruth Gabay, LCSW, one of the organizers. "People have many different ways of dealing with loss. We hope this program will bring a measure of solace and comfort."
Also participating in the program are music therapists from the Louis Armstrong Center for Music & Medicine and Rev. Robert Chodo Campbell who will demonstrate a visual therapy exercise to develop coping skills.
The program is free and open to everyone. For more information, please call Ms. Gabay at 212-844-8524 or Joanne Rutland, LCSW, at 212-420-2977.
