Online, June 23, 2014 (Newswire.com) - As spring time approaches we all look forward to the warmer temperatures. But one thing we don't look forward to is the ANTS. Most of us in this area have experienced these little buggers rummaging through our homes. Ants often feed outside, but during the warmer months they make their way indoors to look for food. They will often be found in the kitchen and/or bathrooms. Ants will feed on anything that may be available, but will mostly be looking for water, sugars, or anything that has carbohydrates. After all, they need energy just like we do. In a recent PCT article they point out three important steps in the elimination of ants.
Initial Contact
This step usually occurs when a client calls the office saying they have a problem. We will want to know what these ants look like, where are you seeing them, and how long have they been there. These questions are important in helping us identify what type of ant is invading and give you tips on what you can do before we get there.
On-Site Inspections
The next step will occur when we arrive at your home. We will first want to correctly identify the ant species you are dealing with. Once identification is made we can look for where they are trailing in and where they might be nesting. Ants can trail anywhere on the structure and once they are inside they make their way to their food source. Ants may nest in leaves, under rocks, in trees, stumps or landscaping timbers around your home. Once we have found their nest and trailing habits, we can devise a plan to eliminate them. Most of the time we will use baits and/or non-repellent liquids on the trails, ants will ingest or trail through the materials, then introduce it to the nest.
Follow - Up
The last step is making sure the ant infestation has been controlled and a proper management strategy is in place for keeping your home pest free.
