Big Boggle Maker Hasbro Sent 20,000 Items in Care Packages to Service Men and Women Overseas
Online, October 9, 2010 (Newswire.com) - Big Boggle maker Parker Brothers-Hasbro provided 20,000 items in care packages to overseas service men and women. The company partnered with a non-profit organization, called Operation Gratitude, to lend their support to U.S. troops by providing games and handwritten letters. The letters were included within care packages that were addressed to individual soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines deployed overseas.
Hasbro cooperated with Operation Gratitude on the National Day of Service and Remembrance (on September 10th). As part of their employee volunteer program, Team Hasbro, employees from five Hasbro facilities in locations throughout the country (Rhode Island, California, Massachusetts, and Washington) donated their time to place 20,000 stickers on Hasbro card games greeting the service people. Besides receiving the games, each employee will created a handwritten note for individual service men or women. These items will then be shipped to Operation Gratitude and included within the official care packages.
Operation Gratitude is a non-profit corporation in California. Donated funds are used to pay for production, shipping and communication expenses. Their administrative expenses are so low (less than 1.4%), and their management is so efficient that Charity Navigator would not compare them to other similar size organizations. This is a tribute to the patriotic spirit of the many key volunteers who devote themselves to the organization without pay in order to express appreciation to the Military. Annually, they send over 100,000 care packages filled with snacks, entertainment items, and personal letters of appreciation to US service members. Their mission is to lift morale, bring a smile to a service member's face and express to our Armed Forces the appreciation and support of the American people.
