Big Data Analytics for Virtualized Infrastructures, CloudPhysics Emerges from Stealth Mode
Announcing Funding from Industry Angels and Mayfield Fund
Unveils Beta Services at VMworld San Francisco
CloudPhysics announces the availability of its datacenter analytics services for virtualized infrastructures, along with $2.5 million in funding from prominent industry angel investors and the Mayfield Fund.
Founded by engineering and product leaders from VMware, Google, and Cadence, CloudPhysics will unveil its SaaS-based offering at VMworld on Monday, August 27. The service delivers unique insights into virtualization operations and design. Representing a fundamental advancement in systems management, CloudPhysics is the first to combine big data science with resource management and simulation.
Also on Monday, August 27, CloudPhysics will announce the winners of its VMworld 2012 Challenge, an online competition with early adopters held in the past week. Participants have been designing CloudPhysics "cards", solutions for virtualization problems posed by the participating users. Dr. Mendel Rosenblum, a VMware founder and Stanford University professor, will be presenting awards to the winners at a CloudPhysics-sponsored event the evening of August 27.
"Virtualization has delivered tremendous benefits in the form of consolidation. But that abstraction also creates incredible complexities for small and large environments alike," said John Blumenthal, co-founder and CEO of CloudPhysics. "It is our mission to continuously deliver insights to our users for managing their way through the dynamics of their infrastructures with confidence and deep understanding. We reveal to them the fundamental forces at play in their environment to bring our customers to new levels of ROI, utilization and availability."
CloudPhysics is funded by Mayfield Fund (www.mayfield.com), led by Managing Director Robin Vasan, industry angels Diane Greene and Mendel Rosenblum, Mark Leslie, Ed Bugnion, Peter Wagner, Carl Waldspurger, and Matt Ocko. More information about CloudPhysics can be found at www.cloudphysics.com.
