Online, April 3, 2012 (Newswire.com) - A B-School with a difference, BIMTECH has its roots firmly in tradition. The leit motif of BIMTECH is Excellence with Values. In keeping with this principle, the institute decided to hold its 24th convocation on 31 March, 2012, the 150th Birth Anniversaries of two great Indians - Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore and Swami Vivekananda.
The 2012 convocation was held for over 379 students in all belonging to batches of PGDM, PGDM-IB, PGDM-IBAM, PGDM-RM and PGDM - IB (SDP). Each graduating student became a member of the BIMTECH Global Alumni Community. They were bright and ready to explore new avenues and careers. A large percentage are placed with the 86 corporates that visited BIMTECH this year.
"The convocation day, for any educational institution, is a great event in the life of the scholars, parents and guardians, faculty and all stake holders of an institution. It is a day of hope, of fulfilment and of plans for the future," Chairperson Ms. Jayshree Mohta said.
Introducing the Chief Guest, Mr. Vineet Rai, Ms. Mohta added, "On such an occasion, the Chief Guest who delivers the convocation address adorns the mantle of a mentor, who can guide, enlighten and mould the outlook of the young hopefuls. Mr. Rai occupies a very vital constitutional position in our country as the supervisory authority of the nation's finances and expenditure. He is a very distinguished civilian who has occupied crucial positions in his illustrious career as a government servant. He has blazed a new trail in the cause of sound corporate governance and ethical conduct, inspiring not only our countrymen but also many in other nations as well."
Dr. H. Chaturvedi, Director, BIMTECH elaborated the well planned theme as he presented the Director's Report to the audience. "We are planning to organize several seminars, conferences, workshops and quizzes in the coming year to celebrate the 150th birth anniversaries of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore and Swami Vivekananda," he said. This is totally in keeping with BIMTECH's ethos of always upholding the tradition of work ethics - a novelty in today's world of ruthless material pursuits. BIMTECH is very conscious of its legacy that comes down from the teachings and values inculcated by the forward thinking and highly revered Shri G D Birla.
Another pearl of information that Dr. H. Chaturvedi revealed was the fact that Prof. Ishwar Dayal, founding faculty of IIM Ahmadabad and IIM Kolkata, and Founder Director of IIM Lucknow has joined BIMTECH as the B-School's Chief Mentor.
He went on to speak of the achievements of BIMTECH. Among them is the B-School's consistent performance in media rankings. "Our institute has been ranked 7th under the CNBC-TV18's A List of B-Schools, 10th in Business Today-Nielsen Survey and 9th in MBA Universe Survey among the top private B-Schools of India," Dr. Chaturvedi said.
Mr. Rai's inspirational address was very well received by the audience. He kept them engrossed and perked their interest when he said, "You need to be ethics leaders. You have to set the tone and create a culture of honesty and integrity. There will be times which will be tough. It is in these times that there will be inclination to cut corners or take half measures. You have to stand up in such moments of crisis and have faith in your ability. Do not succumb to the temptation of short term gains. Ethical conduct is a prerequisite for any sustainable business."
