Online, June 26, 2012 (Newswire.com) - Birla Institute of Management Technology (BIMTECH) gives students opportunities to prove themselves during their Summer Internships. Rohit Khanna, belonging to the 2011-13 PGDM batch talks about the rewards and the challenges he is facing during his Summer Internship.
Interestingly, Rohit Khanna is doing what no computer can for now. This Jalandhar boy is working on a holistic project that is researching the FMCG penetration in 252 villages that surround Delhi.
"It is challenging," he says. "But, I have technology on my side. The GPS tells me exactly where I am - something that would not have been possible even a decade ago. Dabur India has helped a lot by providing me with a cab and two people to help me with all the data I am gathering." The past 20 days have seen Khanna travel 180 to 200 kilometres per day. Sometimes, he has to traverse into areas totally unknown.
Walking around the villages keeps him trim. "Often, we have to walk three or four kilometres before we get to the market," he laughs, enjoying every moment of his learning experience. "Sometimes the villages are huge and shops are far apart - even one or two kilometres away from each other. I am learning hard core marketing."
Some people live like everything is a problem and some like nothing is. Rohit belongs to the latter category. "I have no problems," he says. "I am living at home with my relatives. Dabur India office is only four or five stations away by Metro."
Using this opportunity to connect with his dream company, Khanna has learnt a lot from his seniors. One lesson that will stay with him is how to work, and how to get work done.
"For me Dabur India is a dream company. Interning here is a great experience," says this BIMTECH student. He admires the disciplined yet soothing culture of the organization, where everything is organized in a professional manner.
Another lesson that came Rohit's way was "How to control yourself and how to give the best presentation," he says, recalling the first spontaneous presentation he had. "It went very well," he adds, in case we were wondering.
Khanna's work will contribute towards Dabur India deciding on appointing three distributors for that village cluster.
