BIMTECH's Student Vidisha Singhal Lands A Prime Post At HDFC ERGO General Insurance

Online, April 1, 2012 (Newswire.com) - Graduating at the top of her class and landing a prime position at HDFC ERGO General Insurance, Vidisha Singhal is another Birla Institute of Management Technology (BIMTECH) success story.

Receiving her initial schooling from St. Mary's Senior Secondary School, she obtained her BTech from the Electronics and Communication Branch of Galgotias College of Engineering and Technology and worked with HCL Tech as a graduate engineer trainee for two years before deciding to go for an MBA at BIMTECH.

Her life at BIMTECH has been an active one - not just academically, but also in sports. As an executive member of the Sports Conduit she got a chance to apply and enhance her managerial skills learning to organize various tournaments and events.

Vidisha was also associated with the NGO of BIMTECH, where she learned about the realities of poverty and realized how much should be done to help needy people.

"There can be no end to the help which can be extended," she said. "We have opened many libraries in various villages and our recent and most successful event was a library in Dasna Jail Ghaziabad."

Vidisha also served as class representative and said in total, all these activities gave her a complete mixture theory and practical experience.

"The learning platform which we get in BIMTECH cannot be provided in a better manner anywhere else," she said. "Being a residential course, after-class evening events organized by various clubs such as Entrepreneurial cell, BIZMARK and INMOS helped us in applying our classroom studies practically."

Vidisha now feels totally prepared to take on her new position as management trainee at HDFC ERGO General Insurance Company - one of the leaders in general insurance - and gave credit to the BIMTECH faculty and alumni.

BIMTECH puts a lot of emphasis on guest lectures, has a wide network of its alumni and this network of guests and alumni helped her learn about the industry and how it works.

"My academic experience at BIMTECH has helped me personally as well," she said. "I was an introvert by nature; however BIMTECH has helped me enhance my interpersonal skills."

She said in today's highly competitive world of business, an organization expects a lot more from employees. Before, "employees use to learn the work culture after joining the organization.
