Biodiversity Magazine Launches in South Africa

South African Biodiversity Media is launching their Biodiversity magazine next year May 2011.

In a country where water resources are already at a shortage in an ever-growing population, ecosystems are crumbling due to urban development growth, pressure on agriculture to produce at faster rates putting soil, air and water quality at risk, spreading awareness and protecting biodiversity is becoming an increasing emerging issue.

South Africa has 3 biodiversity hotspots and has one of the richest biodiversity landscapes in the world. But with growing threats biodiversity has had a steady decline over the years, damaging our natural resource and enhancing poverty issues.

Biodiversity Magazine aims to promote environment issues and create awareness around the biodiversity. With a distribution of 10, 000 aimed at professionals in the environment sector, researchers, government, commercial stake-holders and the general public, Biodiversity Magazine will cover a range of topics including ecosystems, climate change, environment, biodiversity, species, current affairs, projects, legislation and policies.

"The magazine will aim at the issues, but we'll include the good stuff as well," said editor, Celeste Yates. "Although a lot needs to be done to restore and improve our biodiversity situation; there are people out there making a difference. We'd like to cover both the positive and areas that need further improvement. There is also a need to inform about the wonder of biodiversity and its benefits so that there is an understanding of why we need to save it."

Subscription options are available on South African Biodiversity website - southafricanbiodiversity.co.za as well as advertising rates for companies and businesses that relate to the outdoors, being green or that are involved in the environment.
