Birch Equipment Supports Burned Children Recovery Foundation with Ryan Stiles Golf Tournament

Birch Equipment joins other businesses in charitable causes, including this weekend's Ryan Stiles Celebrity Golf Tournament

BELLINGHAM, WA) - Despite the poor economy, Birch Equipment continues to join other local businesses in support of community causes. The company has contributed over $20,000 collectively to nearly 40-organizations in Whatcom and Skagit Counties and in Sitka, Alaska this year. Birch primarily aids groups focused on education and the health and well being of communities. This includes the Skagit Valley College Foundation, Skagit Valley Hospital, Whatcom Hospice, many school PTAs, the creation of a fabulous playground at Freedom Park on Camano Island and this weekend, the Burned Children Recovery Foundation, the beneficiary of proceeds from the Ryan Stiles Celebrity Golf Tournament.

"Our teams are celebrities every day - whether at work or helping in the community," said Anacortes Store Manager Stephen Mitchell. Mitchell is a volunteer fire fighter with the South Whatcom Fire Authority and will play in the tournament. "We are proud to work at a company that takes care of the communities we work in and appreciate what other businesses do to help too."

Started in 1989, the Burned Children Recovery Foundation helps burn survivors of all ages to live happy and full lives (Burned Children Recovery Site). The foundation holds a summer camp for young burn victims that lets them enjoy being kids without worrying about how they look. The foundation also gives victims and their families tools to handle the social and psychological effects of being burned.
