Bitcoin Diamond Can Now Be Used to Fund Random Acts of Kindness With Cryptanthropy
SINGAPORE, August 16, 2019 (Newswire.com) - Crypto enthusiasts can now use Bitcoin Diamond (BCD) to fund random acts of kindness through Canadian online donation platform Cryptanthropy, which recently added the coin to its roster of supported cryptocurrencies. Donations are used to directly purchase gift cards through Coincards, allowing all cash flow to be published on public ledgers. These gift cards are then used to treat unsuspecting strangers to free groceries, gas, and school supplies, for example.
Cryptanthropy was founded in July 2018 by Aaron Fisher after his tweet pledging to “surprise purchase groceries for as many families as I can” resulted in donations worth $1,800 CAD. The project has now raised nearly one Bitcoin, of which $5,335 CAD worth of food and supplies has already been given away.
“At its best, cryptocurrency is used to make life better for people,” said BCD community manager Carl Shicun. “Cryptanthropy is an important project in the cryptosphere as it demonstrates how currencies like Bitcoin Diamond can be used to make philanthropy more transparent. We hope to see many generous gifts given by the BCD community to projects like Cryptanthropy.”
Cryptocurrency payments provide higher efficiency for both merchants and customers. With Bitcoin Diamond, transactions can be verified in a matter of seconds at a fraction of the fees charged by credit card processors. BCD also protects merchants from costly chargebacks and increases accessibility for digital currency-holding shoppers.
Over the past several years, cryptocurrency has emerged as the next evolution of money, thanks to its convenience, cost-effectiveness and decentralization. Designed as a means of transaction as peer-to-peer electronic cash, it matches the functionality of traditional fiat currency and goes beyond in efficiency, accessibility and security. Bitcoin launched in 2009 as the first cryptocurrency, and hundreds of others have since followed.
About Cryptanthropy
Crypanthropy was founded with the vision of promoting random acts of kindness using digital currencies. The organization uses blockchain technology and public ledgers to show donors where their money goes. Generous crypto holders can donate using an array of digital tokens or even donate spare mining power. The funds received are used to purchase gift cards on Coincards, which are spent on surprise gifts – like groceries, tanks of gas, and school supplies – for unsuspecting people in the community.
About Bitcoin Diamond (BCD)
Bitcoin Diamond (BCD) is a Bitcoin fork created to solve slow transaction confirmations and high threshold requirements. Through BCD Pay, business owners are able to offer their products to a global market without needing to absorb expensive fees from international payments or worry about costly chargebacks from indecisive or fraudulent customers.
In 2018, BCD debuted BCD Bazaar, an international marketplace that gives customers access to a wide range of products from across the world by accepting payments in Bitcoin Diamond (BCD) or Bitcoin (BTC).
