Black Velvet Deluxe Expands Band - Adds Rhythm Guitarist Steve Burchell

L.A.'s rising indie rock band, Black Velvet Deluxe, expands its lineup with Steve Burchell joining the band on rhythm guitar.

BLACK VELVET DELUXE is pleased to welcome renowned guitarist Steve Burchell aboard. Steve has been rocking such Hollywood area clubs as The Viper Room, The Cat Club and the legendary Whisky-a-Go-Go (as well as clubs across the U.S. and the U.K.)

Steve accepted the invitation from BLACK VELVET DELUXE to take on the rhythm guitarist role because he felt Black Velvet Deluxe was a really good fit for his music, his style and his personality. "After my last band, ZanKoma, went on hiatus last year, I was constantly searching for rock 'n' roll bands in L.A. that might be a fit for me," explained Burchell. "Not having gigs to look forward to is just not a natural thing for me."

"After about six months, finding Black Velvet Deluxe was a total breath of fresh air. The rock 'n' roll vibe I was looking for was there and so was the voice," said Burchell. For me, the lead vocalist is the biggest part of me joining any band. I'm very particular, so when I heard Carlos for the first time I knew it could definitely be a great fit, and from the first jam, it felt very natural to be around all the guys, Josh, Nate and Sal, and already having known Nate from the rock music scene already was a big factor as well. Also, there was no question we'd be able to get on and work together musically."

"Music had always been a big part of my life growing up," reminisced Steve. "My Dad would always have Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Beatles, The Who and Pink Floyd playing. I knew that the stage was the place for me as soon as I picked up the guitar, got into my first band within a few months and played my first gig just a few months after that. The stage felt like home, and whether I played small gigs in front of five people or big gigs in front of thousands the energy and release from the performance was always the same. The adrenaline rush from being onstage is what I'm all about and love, so to do this professionally has always been a dream for me."

No wonder "Burchie" fits right in with the rest of Black Velvet Deluxe!

Steve has already played one date with BLACK VELVET DELUXE, at the Cat Club last weekend and is now in full gear with the band as they rehearse for their next gig at Paladino's on Thursday, February 18 @ 9 PM and again on Friday, March 19 @ 9 PM. Paladino's is located at 6101 Reseda Boulevard in Tarzana, CA.
