Bloxtel Showcases World's First Asymmetric Mobile Network Authentication
Pioneering blockchain and telecom startup unveils Open6GC, a mobile network platform using its patent-pending dSIM technology.
BARCELONA, Spain, February 27, 2023 (Newswire.com) - At the annual Mobile World Congress, Bloxtel Inc, a leading provider of blockchain-based telecommunications solutions, presented Open6GC, a peer-to-peer mobile network platform tightly integrated with blockchain technology to help operators and enterprises significantly reduce their connectivity infrastructure costs. The groundbreaking platform is based on a patent-pending decentralized SIM (dSIM) technology featuring asymmetric mobile network authentication.
During a live demonstration accompanied with the release of a 22-page white paper, Bloxtel's founders argued that traditional symmetric authentication in wireless telecommunications systems, with the same single keys shared in advance, is a pure remnant from the 1980s. They presented symmetric cryptography as a major bottleneck for unlocking global connectivity growth in terms of cost, scalability, interoperability, performance and security. They proposed asymmetric cryptography as a better alternative for mobile network authentication towards distributed and decentralized public/private networks.
Asymmetric cryptography allows two different but mathematically related keys to be used to encrypt and decrypt data. In this system, each mobile network node and each subscriber is associated with a pair of cryptographic keys: a public key that can be shared, and a private key that is kept secret. This mechanism allows decentralized neutral host-based cellular networks to be securely and seamlessly accessed by offloading/roaming mobile operators at the fraction of today's costs.
Bloxtel's founders suggested an initial cost of $0.25 per GB for an Open6GC deployment which is over 20x cheaper than the US average price per GB. Hosting an Open6GC node for an enterprise should be much more affordable than a commercial solution that costs hundreds of thousands of dollars.
"We are thrilled to introduce Open6GC to our customers and partners," said Izzo Wane, co-founder & CEO of Bloxtel. "We believe that Open6GC provides a much-needed solution that is open, innovative and cost-effective. We already received tremendous feedback about dSIM technology and are confident that Open6GC will exceed expectations."
Bloxtel's founders are not new to introducing disruptive concepts to the $1T+ telecom industry. With their previous startup Simless, they were the first to showcase integrated SIM (iSIM) technology years before the industry adopted it. With Bloxtel, they are at it again with the strong conviction that dSIM is the missing piece of the nascent decentralized wireless ecosystem. Open6GC is backward compatible with 5G & 4G/LTE and aims to galvanize 6G research for building distributed systems for the next billions of connected devices.
Bloxtel's demos are available to the public at 4YFN (8.1UP.6) located at Hall 8.1 of Fira Gran Via. The white paper has also been made available online at Bloxtel's website.
About Bloxtel Inc:
Bloxtel is the brainchild of former employees of AT&T and Deutsche Telekom, world's largest telecom companies. With 40+ SIM-related granted patents and a combined experience of 30+ years in telecom, smart cards and cryptography, Bloxtel's founders were pioneers in the field of eSIM/ iSIM technology.
