Bobble Heads Dominate Big E State Fair
Rain did not dampen huge crowds, nor did it stop a Bobble Head Invasion!
WEST SPRINGFIELD, MA, October 22, 2015 (Newswire.com) - Despite some dreary days with cold rain, The Big E, Massachusetts' illustrious state fair, broke all kinds of records with over 1.3 million attendees this October.
The usual cast of characters with the long lines were the food vendors and some of the new featured rides. However, the biggest lines throughout the fair came from newcomer, i-Bobbles Custom Bobble Heads of Boston. A small stand with a very big crowd pumped out custom bobble heads like there was no tomorrow. So much so that you couldn't walk down any of the fair's walkways without seeing people proudly carrying their Bobble Head.
"Tomorrow we look to the future and our 100th anniversary celebration on September 16th to October 2, 2016.
Amy Vaness, Director
The last day of the fair brought sunny skies and cool temperatures, and attracted over 108,000 people. Team members of the Special Olympics opened the Big E with a torch run through the fairgrounds and then demonstrated different sports throughout the day.
For the first time, on Sunday, the fair also had a car collector exhibit with a variety of different antique and specialized cars, as well as another crowded exhibit from the same i-Bobbles people selling bobble heads race cars. Again, it seems that they dominated the exhibit.
There were performances from Kansas, The Charlie Daniels Band, Alabama, as well as Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes.
Another big hit was The Big E's "99 years of fun" display which featured old video games, a Lego display and a number of other things.
The fair had a very successful year as well as the vendors, carnival operators and the entire staff.
"Next year will be the 100th anniversary of The Big E," said Amy Vaness, program director of the fair. "Tomorrow we look to the future and our 100th anniversary celebration."
Next year's The Big E is planned to open a little earlier, on September 16 and will go until October 2nd. Keep up with all of Mass' Live coverage.
