Boeing 747 flying hospital "conceptual" design for Global Flying Hospitals finished October 23, 2009

Online, October 26, 2009 (Newswire.com) - The Boeing 747 flying hospital conceptual design for Global Flying Hospitals was finished October 23, 2009. Phase 2 has now moved this exciting project of the world's largest flying hospital, into the realms of practical, engineering designs and working mock-up, in order to engage aircraft engineers to commence work.

Neill Newton, Chairman & Founder of this unique humanitarian medical charity, announced that the 2nd and 3rd quarter of 2009 was taken up with researching, reviewing and rough sketching the interior of the Boeing 747, with math data supplied by a Boeing engineer on the Advisory Board. Studies on hospital operational flow, surgical layouts, post-op and pre-op positioning and many other issues were examined. He stated that this conceptual 'dreams and wishes list' phase had now closed, as consensus had been reached by all the members on the Medical Board and Aviation Dept., along with input from host charities that will use the flying hospital. And, decisions were also made by the Aviation Dept., that the 747-200, with J9 engines, makes for an excellent choice as the hospital platform.

In early October initial negotiations were opened with firms that Boeing' Freighter Conversion Dept. had recommended to Global Flying Hospitals, in Asia, namely BSAS, EGAT, TAECO, and of course Boeing Shanghai. As a result, TAECO in Fujian Province China, a highly experienced 747 freighter conversion firm, (partly owned by Boeing, Japan Airlines and Cathay Pacific), have extended the first invitation to open negotiations for the flying hospital conversion. Mr. Newton is leading the delegation to Xiamen, which is geographically close to the charity's Regional Asian Head Office in Macau, while continuing to interview the other Boeing recommendations, in order to quickly offer the tender.

Some of these firms have now offered to speedily undertake the engineering plan production in order to gain Boeing's (STC) Supplementary Type Certificate approval, as they have in place highly efficient aviation design departments on-site.
