Winter in the UK has become more extreme in recent years and many scientists are forecasting the weather will continue for many years to come. Recently in National Geographic, the Centre for Climate and Energy Solutions (C2ES) reported findings that due to more Arctic sea ice melting in the summer, more of the sun's heat is being absorbed by the sea, and not being reflected by the ice and snow.

This in turn is causing a higher level of water vapour in the air column, which is altering the polar jet stream, stopping warmer air getting to the UK and instead leaving it exposed to colder weather fronts from Europe.

This change in the climate not only affects the UK but is also the cause of the more intense rainfall around the world. Examples of this weather include the recent flash-flooding in Nashville, Tennessee, and the torrential downpour in Sichuan Province in Central China.

After it does there are 55 snow wardens on hand to grit local roads and 60 farmers with snow ploughs to fit to their tractors. There are even 40 4X4 drivers ready to deliver hot meals and shopping to the elderly, as well as ensure carers can get to their care homes.
