Boon Edam High Capacity Revolving Doors Provide Final Touch To Museum On Tiananmen Square, China
Online, June 23, 2011 (Newswire.com) - The museum was founded in 2003 when the China History Museum and China Revolutionary Museum merged. In 2007 the museum closed for an extensive renovation and expansion project that would cost 2.5 billion yuan and would take three years to complete. Jointly designed by German and Chinese architects, the new National Museum of China is reportedly the largest of its kind in the world and will see millions of visitors pass through its doors every year.
At the main entrances of the museum, four large Boon Edam Duotour Revolving Doors were installed. These high capacity, automated revolving doors are easily capable of handling the large numbers of visitors passing through them every day, while forming a permanent barrier against outside heat, cold, noise and draughts in order to help maintain a comfortable climate inside the building. The special design which incorporates solid powder coated aluminium curved walls, created by Boon Edam in Beijing gives the prestigious building's façade the finishing touch.
The Duotour is a high capacity two wing revolving door with large compartments to provide comfortable passage even with large objects, luggage trolleys or wheelchairs. With either central swinging or sliding doors incorporated in the door set, the Dutour is the most versatile high capacity entrance solution. It can be used as a fully automatic revolving door, an automatic sliding or swinging entrance or left completely open as traffic or special circumstances dictate. Optional showcases are available that can be used as advertising or exhibition space.
Royal Boon Edam International BV was founded in 1873 as a small Amsterdam carpentry shop.
