Bopping Heads and Laser Maze Together in Extreme Party Trailer - a Unique Business Opportunity
Two of the hottest and latest forms of event entertainment are now united in a very unique package called an Event Trailer for the entrepreneur who wants out of the office!
Online, May 20, 2012 (Newswire.com) - I've been covering the business desk for about 8 years now, and just when I thought I had seen every business opportunity you could shake a stick at, a company called Thunder Ridge Entertainment literally rolled-out a new and unique business model which just might get my nomination for a Millennium Award. Not a real award, just one that I made up a few years ago when I found that only one in a thousand business opportunities are truly unique and something the serious entrepreneur would get excited about. This one most certainly fits the bill.
Unlike finding this business opportunity in a franchise or business show where everyone touts their product as the latest and greatest, as well as the best thing since sliced bread, I learned about this one purely by being in the right place at the right time. Specifically, my nephew's birthday party.
Silence was certainly a commodity as I fraternized with some of the adults in a house full of 10, 11, and 12 year-olds. That is until "it" pulled up to the front yard. "It" is a 25-foot enclosed trailer called the Extreme Party Mobile. The trailer was wrapped in sensational looking graphics which not only got every kid crazed with excitement upon seeing the trailer, but also caused every adult to exit to the front lawn with eyes wide open in speculation of the marvel that had just rolled-up. My brother explained the entire concept without me even having to ask, (as if he knew what I was about to say.)
Why had I not seen this before? It was brand new, hot off the press, and as soon as my day of relaxation began, it was off to work for me! So here's the scoop:
This trailer is divided into 3 sections. Inside is like a scene right out of Mission Impossible. Actually, they called it the Mission Impassable Laser Maze Challenge. Laser Beams shooting across the room with the participants navigating through the beams without breaking them in order to capture the flag at the end of the maze. Everyone received personalized score sheets based on how quickly they would get through the maze and how many beams that they broke.
On the side of the trailer, a large canopy opened up and below it were 4 large-screen TV's where participants could go head-to-head with each other on their choice of video games.
It didn't stop there! In the rear of the trailer was a dance heads style video entertainment system called Bopping Heads Dance Videos. One to four people can sit in front of a green screen allowing this system to superimpose their heads on someone else's dancing body, all to the beat of popular music. Afterward, you receive a video of your music video on DVD. It was one of the most hilarious things I've seen at a party and while both the maze and the music videos were busy the entire event, when it was time for the operator to pack-up and go to his next party, he had a real hard time trying to stop the line of people who wanted another video. My brother had to work-out a deal for him to stay an extra 30 minutes.
While this trailer was only at the party for 3.5 hours, I have to say that it kept every one's attention for the entire time, and not just kids either. My brother also had a bounce house at the party for the kids which seemed to be empty the entire time that the trailer was present.
Looking at this from a business standpoint, my brother had paid $760 for the 3-hours and an additional $100 for the extra half hour he negotiated. I, of course, asked the trailer operator how much they would charge for my son's birthday party if I had them for just 2 hours,(as a reporter, I need to cut back wherever and whenever I can!) He let me know as kindly as he could that they have a minimum of 3 hours and even if I did agree to the full 3-hours, he was already booked both day and night for my son's birthday.
I asked him why I hadn't seen this before and why I never saw it advertised for which he offered, "The owner thought we would start-out with advertising in yellow pages and parenting magazines, but during our first event, we had 3 different people book parties for themselves. Two kids birthday parties and one anniversary party. The same occurs at just about every event we do," said Sammy Martin, the managing operator of the maze.
At that point, I didn't need to dig any deeper as it didn't take me long to do the math. Additionally, it was certainly evident how popular this would be at parties, special events and even in street fairs and carnival style venues.
Two college-aged kids ran this entire operation. I figure $10 per hour x 4 hours x 2 employees, equaling $80. Lets add another $20 each for travel and we are in the ball park of $120. This would mean that the owner was somewhere at home watching a football game while he was making himself a cool $600+ profit for 4 hours on a Sunday afternoon when the rest of us chumps were watching with our mouth's wide open. Almost all talking about the revenue potential of this business, and as he had stated, I believe they did pick-up at least 4-5 potential customers during the party with one of them being me.
The following day, I called the manufacturer, Thunder Ridge Entertainment, and spoke to someone about this business opportunity. The company suggested that I place my name on a waiting list as they were a month out from being able to accept any more orders, but they would be happy to furnish me with additional information.
Some entrepreneurs see business opportunities as lucky coincidences or even a work of fate. Some need a big sign that says Perfect Turnkey Business before they see the potential. However, the Extreme Party Trailer from Thunder Ridge Entertainment would need no sign, no seduction, and no hype as all indications lead me to believe that this is one of those few and far between business opportunities that is fresh, unique, fun and one to watch.
